The Castle of Kavala dominates the city and offers impressive panoramic views. The old town, known as Panagia, with its traditional houses and narrow cobblestone streets, keeps alive the atmosphere of past eras. Of particular importance are the Kamares, the imposing Roman aqueduct, as well as the Imaret, a unique Ottoman monument that today functions as a place of hospitality and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kavala also stands out for its natural beauty. It has beautiful beaches within and around the city, while its close distance to Thasos makes it an ideal destination for excursions. The local cuisine is based on fresh fish and seafood, as well as traditional Macedonian and Asia Minor recipes.
