Hiking inTaygetos Mountain

Every Sunday, in collaboration with the Mountaineering Association of Western Messinia, we organize a hike in the villages of western Mani, from Kardamili to Taygetos. The route starts from the central square of the village and follows the path of the ancient ”royal road” that connected Kardamili with Sparta. The route takes place within a path tucked into olive trees, pines and cypresses. Byzantine churches, stone towers, old fountains, olive mills and flour mills reveal the life of the locals in the past. Reaching the end, Taygetus proudly stands up with its imposing peaks

Meeting point: Kardamyli's central square

Duration: 3 hours with small breaks

Difficulty level: easy with some rough spots
